Reciprocity avitivities between Bhutan and Benin on agro-industrial products development Bhutan to Benin

The first visit to Benin was to discuss and plan the project activities, to be executed in Benin. To guarantee the sustainability of small farmers of the townships of Djakotomey, Aplahoue and Klouekanme in Benin, the plans were drawn to process the surplus produces of cassava, tomato and orange of these townships. It was also discussed to construct processing plants in each region. The other plan that was planned during the visit was to reorganize the network of trade and development of new strategy for trade and distribution of the products produced by the local farmers.

The second visit was to discuss on the progress of the Project and to share the knowledge and skills on processing of fruits and vegetables. The other aim of the visit to Benin was to assess how far the objective of the project is being achieved and to draw the strategies to successfully complete the project on time.

Benin to Bhutan

The visits were planned as per the project planned activities. During the visits, the members from Benin interacted with the farmers association of Dagapela and shared the skills and knowledge on formation of farmers associations, their objectives, the regulations of the association, their future plans ahead & etc were discussed. The members from both the countries participated in the training for production of orange pulp, production of Pickles and production of Orange Squash in PET bottles both in Dagapela and at Bhutan Agro Industries Limited’s factory. The team from Benin also participated in a workshop on Women Empowerment, Capacity building & Gender equality conducted by BAIL.
