The objectives of this visit were to conduct reciprocal activities in Benin that had been conducted in Costa Rica, as well as learn about the ways that sustainable tourism development is being conducted by Eco-Benin and what challenges are faced in Benin, how those challenges are overcome and how they might relate to eco-tourism development in Costa Rica.

The project Clean Bhutan and Costa Rica: design and implementation of an integrated and sustainable solid waste management system in San Jose, Costa Rica and Bhutan has an important component that has been developed during the last few months and has involved working with the community of Hatillo. Sessions revolving around the importance of recycling have been conducted, informing local citizens about products and their components. This article explains some facts about these sessions in Hatillo.
› Traditional Bribri stories are transmitted to young people at Kéköldi Indigenous Reserve, Talamanca, Limon | 2010-06-22
With the idea of reinforcing the capacities of the young members of the community to provide the service of tourist guides and to preserve traditions and cultural indigenous background, in June 19th, Ambio organized an event at Kéköldi Indigenous Reserve to promote the transferring of histories from elders to young people. The activity had the participation of 16 community members, who exchange different histories and agreed in maintaining the execution of similar events to avoid the lost of oral Bribri´s tradition.

› Training on White Water Rafting | 2010-06-04
Under the Programme for South-South Cooperation through Sustainable Development Secretariat, Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC), the bilateral project proposal on “Rural Adventure Tourism Enhancement and Sustainable Community Development in Bhutan and Costa Rica” is jointly being managed by ABTO and Rios Tropical. Under this project, 16 tour guides were trained in White Water rafting by two rafting experts from Costa Rica and one expert from Bhutan.

Under the Programme for South South Cooperation through the Rural Adventure Tourism Enhancement and Sustainable Community Development project, a five member delegation from Bhutan visited to Costa Rica in May 2010 as a part of reciprocity visit. The main purpose of the visit was for sharing of knowledge and experiences between the implementing agencies for bringing positive impact for the successful implementation of the project.

› Training on Tourism Marketing | 2010-03-10
Under the “Strengthening Tour Operator Associations in Bhutan and Costa Rica and Improving Market Linkages for Sustainable Tourism with the United States and Western Europe” project under Programme for South South Cooperation, a four day intensive training on Marketing and Packaging was organized from 2nd -5th March 2010. The main purpose of the training was to create awareness on the product branding, packaging and effective marketing through effective utilization of resources in the market. Around 37 tour operators and representatives from the Association have attended the training.
